To the east of Nijmegen, close to the German border, lies the Wylerbergmeer recreation area. It is a small recreational area with all the amenities for a wonderful beach day. There are two toilet blocks and a kiosk. There are also sandy beaches with various play equipment on the textile side, view here the information board. Officially, Wylerberg Lake has no area for nude recreation, but on the east side, nude recreation has been tolerated for years, on a more or less hidden lawn in the forest. A high hedge shields the nudist beach from the footpath behind it. The footpath is in 2016 widened and hardened and now forms a popular walking tour around the recreational lake. Although nude recreation is tolerated here, the manager of the area at the entrance (since 2019) has a sign with rules of conduct posted. The nudist beach only has a lawn and no sandy beach. Due to the presence of a few tall trees, there are plenty of shady spots, but there is limited opportunity for sunbathing in the spring and autumn. There are no facilities on the nudist beach.
The bathing water is accessible through 3 narrow openings in the reeds.
The bathing water area at the height of the island is approximately 1.00 meters deep. There is also a staircase present that facilitates getting in and out. Furthermore, the water quickly becomes deep and has no defined swimming area. This makes it less suitable for untrained swimmers.
