Geestmerambacht is a recreational area close to Alkmaar with an area of approximately 220 hectares. The refurbishment of the recreational lake, the Zomerdel, was completed in 2007. The recreational area will be substantial in the coming years expanded, so that eventually (in 2013) the total surface area of ??the recreational area will be doubled. The new areas are primarily given a nature function. The existing recreational area remains the heart of the area, and is primarily focused on beach recreation.
On the east side of the lake, at bay 4, a small area has been set up for nude recreation. This area is signposted.
There is a small sandy beach on the nudist beach. There is also a toilet on site. There are none further Services.
Part of the bathing water has been deposited with a stone deposit, and here has a maximum water depth of approximately 0.80 meters; ideal for the kids, but actually too shallow for swimming. Outside this section, the bank slopes quite steeply. The lake is approximately 20 meters deep. Experienced swimmers can enter the water at a floating jetty.
