Swipe tabel om meer te zien 21-09-2010 De politie controleert met mooi weer regelmatig langs de plas. Naaktrecreanten worden verzocht om iets aan te trekken. Het lijkt dat hiermee een einde is gekomen aan het gedoogbeleid op het piepkleine naaktstrandje.
Deze site is van mening dat het hier beschreven (weinig aantrekkelijke) strandgedeelte geschikt is voor ongeklede recreatie. Veel beter zou het zijn dat de gemeente Ooststellingwerf een aantrekkelijker gedeelte aan deze prachtige plas zou aanwijzen als geschikt voor naaktrecreatie
General
On the edge of the Drents-Friese Wold to the west of Appelscha lies the former sand extraction lake of Canada Lake. The official name of the lake is the Aekingermeer. Nude recreation is tolerated on a very limited part on the south-west side of the lake.
A footpath surrounds the entire lake almost directly along the water. There is some space for nude recreation in a small area that is not directly visible from the footpath. The nudist beach is also somewhat hidden behind a small island in the lake from the other side of the lake.
The nudist beach is only accessible in the summer during a dry period; at a high water level of the lake, the area and also the footpath is regularly underwater. The narrow bank is used as a lawn. There is no sandy beach. There are no facilities on the nudist beach.
The bathing water is very clear and has a slowly sloping bottom. At the start there is still a lot of plant growth. There is no defined swimming area. The water is only 1.0 meter deep for a large part. In the middle the lake is approximately 40 meters deep.
