Noord AA is the largest and most important recreational area in Zoetermeer. The area is located on the north side of the Zoetermeerse Plas, which was created by sand extraction. There are two areas in the recreation area where nude recreation is allowed. One of the nudist beaches also functions as an official gay meeting place.
The recreation area was redesigned in 2016. The location of the nudist beach between the general beach and the children's beach was seen as problematic, so the location of the nudist beach has been moved to the southeast side of the lake. It is now located next to the children's beach and is separated by an earthen wall. Part of the existing playing pond has been reclaimed for this purpose. The new nudist beach has been in use since 2017. The gay part has remained at the existing spot, but has become considerably smaller and is no longer located on the water.

The sunbathing area of the nudist beach is protected by an earthen wall with a height of approximately 1.70 m on the side of the cycle path and the adjacent children's beach. The earthen wall, which is not suitable for to recreate, is planted with small trees and is fenced on the outside with a fence. There is a small sandy beach along the swimming water. The area is signposted.There is a toilet block with outdoor showers on the nudist beach, there are no other facilities. There is, however, a restaurant with a snack bar 700 meters away on the textile beach. The beach is frequently used by water birds, which means that bird droppings are a nuisance.
The bathing water has a defined area with a maximum water depth of 0.70 m and is also suitable for children, as it remains shallow for a long time. Outside the driftline, the water quickly deepens.

The nudist beach has a narrow elongated sunbathing lawn, without a sandy beach.
There are no facilities on the nudist beach.
There is a restaurant with a snack bar 800 meters away on the textile beach.
With the redevelopment of the area (2016), the nudist beach has been reduced on the side of the lake, so that it no longer has bathing water.
