General
The former island of Goeree-Overflakkee was connected to the South Holland islands and to Schouwen-Duiveland in Zeeland by five dams during the Delta Works. On the west side lies the 6.5 km long Brouwersdam, which separates the Grevelingen lake from the North Sea. About halfway along this dam, on the border with Zeeland, lies the large holiday park Port Zélande.
Nude recreation has long taken place at beach access point 12: t Gorsje at the beginning of the Brouwersdam. The quiet section of the beach, ideal for naturists, is located approximately 300 meters to the right of Beachclub 't Gorsje. The (former) tolerance zone is located approximately between the beach posts 18.75 and 18.00. Most visitors engage in nude recreation here.
Since mid-2023, the municipal council has been proposing in the adopted beach policy to permit nude recreation on this section of the beach, but this designation only came into effect on July 10, 2025, following an amendment to the General Local Bylaw. Incidentally, this section of the beach is not mentioned in the General Local Bylaw, and the text is rather general:
Article 2:23 "Nude recreation. Nude recreation on the beach is permitted at locations designated by the municipal executive."
There are no facilities on the nude beach section. There is no lifeguard on the entire beach at 't Gorsje. A lifeguard station is located on De Kous beach on the Brouwersdam seaward side (near post 21).
