The seaside resort of Bergen aan Zee is located in the middle of a vast nature reserve. On the north side are the Schoorlse Duinen with many forests and on the south side is the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. The resort can only be reached by car via the Zeeweg, which leads through the beautiful wooded nature reserve. Bergen aan Zee's main tourist attraction is, next to the beach and nature, the Zee Aquarium .
The nudist beach lies on the north side of Bergen aan Zee, behind the Schoorl Dunes.
Nude recreation is officially allowed between posts 31.80 and 29.50 . On the beach the area is indicated with a pink colored beach pole head. Since 2017 the nudist beach is also indicated with signs. On the Bergen side, the start of the nudist beach is indicated about 50 meters after the beach pavilion, while it should officially start 450 meters away.
The area between beach pole 31.80 and 32.25 and adjacent to the Stille Strand (now indicated as an activity beach), has been part of the nudist beach for decades, but has officially no longer been part of the nudist beach since 2010. In practice, this section simply recreates nude and is the busiest part of the nude beach. After an attempt by the manager of the "Witte" pavilion in 2017 to combat nudist recreation around the beach pavilion, the municipality of Bergen finds this area now also suitable for nudist recreation and will no longer maintain it here. 32 the beach pavilion Noorderlicht (until 2016 beach pavilion "Uit de kunst" and from 2017 beach pavilion "Witte"). Nudist recreation is not permitted on the terrace.
There is no direct bath supervision on the beach, the nearest lifeguard is at beach stroke 24 at 650 meters from the north side.
